Title | : | Effects of Inventory Control on Profitability of Industrial and Allied Firms in Kenya |
Country | : | Kenya |
Authors | : | James NdiranguKung'u |
Abstract: Inventory represents an important decision variable at all stages of product manufacturing, distribution and sales, in addition to being a major portion of current assets of many organizations. Too much and too low inventories bring down the level of profitability of an organization. Therefore, whether it is a manufacturing or merchandized organization, the goal should always be the same that is, to ensure the inventory is ready and at the same time inventory is at a low level. The study wanted to determine the effects of inventory control on profitability of industrial and allied firms in Kenya. It was explained by economic order quantity model (EOQ) which is based on minimization of costs between stock holding and stock ordering.. Correlational research design was adopted...........

Title | : | The Effect of Concentration and Efficiency of State Banking on Bank Competition in Sri Lanka |
Country | : | Sri Lanka |
Authors | : | Dr. Champika Liyanagamage |
Abstract: The common criticism against state bank operations in most developing countries is their negative impact on the degree of bank competition of such economies. This study provides new and rather scarce evidence of effects of state bank concentration and efficiency on banking sector competition in Sri Lanka for the period starting from 1996 to 2010. Sri Lankan banking sector is highly concentrated around two state banks as per the concentration ratio, moderately efficient as per Data Envelope Curve analysis and moderately competitive as per the Pazer-Ross H statistics............

Title | : | Effect of Public Debt on the Gross Domestic Product in Kenya |
Country | : | Kenya |
Authors | : | Grace Wanjiku Mwaniki |
Abstract: The underlying key issue behind economic development but which has mostly been ignored by empirical research is the issue of public debt. Yet it is now universally accepted that a country's ability to grow also depends on its level of indebtedness. Whereas public debt can drive investment and economic growth, it could also have the opposite effect if channeled to unproductive investment, consumption, and/or if its growth surpasses productive capacity of the economy. The purpose of this study was to find the effect of public debt on gross domestic product of Kenya.............

Country | : | Nigeria |
Authors | : | Antai, Agnes Sylvester || Udo, Aniefiok Benedict || Effiong, Charles Effifiom |
Abstract: After fifty-five years of political independence, the productive base of the Nigerian economy still remains weak, narrow and externally-oriented with primary production activities accounting for about 65 percent of the real gross output and over 80 percent of government revenues. Whereas in other rapidly developing economies, service sector is the lifeline for the socio-economic growth of their countries. It is today the largest and fastest growing sector globally, contributing more to the global output and employing more people than any other sector. This study, seeks to determine the contributions of the different sectors in the Nigerian economy other than the oil and gas sector, to assess the sectors that are underutilized productively and suggest possible solutions towards boosting economic activities in these sectors with the aim of achieving inclusive growth in Nigeria............

Title | : | Profitability of Sudanese Commercial Bank (Panel Data Manipulation) |
Country | : | KSA |
Authors | : | Yassin Ibrahim Eltahir || ELsiddig Yousif M. Mousa |
Abstract: In this study Sudanese commercial bank was examined through generalized regression models namely, fixed effect and random effect. The model incorporated two explanatory variables particularly assets and liabilities as main variables in explaining the profitability , more over three additional dummy variables were introduced as explanatory variables to count and control for unobserved individual effects. These dummies are size of started capital, equities ownership and maturity of the bank. The results were revealed that random effect estimator was suitable to and hence the unobserved individual effects were uncorrelated with the main explanatory variables of the study. Assets and liabilities affect bank profitability positively, in addition, the dummies foreign ownership of equities, bank maturity affect bank profitability positively , while lumpy size of capital contributes negatively to bank profitability.

Title | : | Impact of Goods and Service Tax on Indian Economy |
Country | : | India |
Authors | : | Dr. Umesh H. Arahunasi || Prof. S. N. Pattanashetti |
Abstract: The introduction of Goods and Services Tax (GST) would be a significant step in the reform of indirect taxation in India. Amalgamating several Central and State taxes into a single tax would mitigate cascading or double taxation, facilitating a common national market. The simplicity of the tax should lead to easier administration and enforcement. In 2000, the Vajpayee Government started discussion on GST by setting up an empowered committee.
